Getting Started
Before You Install
- Use macOS or Windows.
- If you are moving from an older EcoPaste version, back up important history first.
- If some apps should never be recorded, you can add them to ignored apps later.
Get The App
Visit the EcoPaste GitHub repository and download the version for your system.
First Launch
On first launch, EcoPaste guides you through a few important steps.
1. Enable Required Permissions
On macOS, Accessibility and Full Disk Access are used for quick paste, window control, and required local data access. Follow the guide to grant them in System Settings.
On Windows, EcoPaste will guide you through elevated access when a system-level capability needs it.
2. Set Shortcuts
Default shortcuts:
Alt+C: open or hide the clipboard window.Alt+X: open or hide the preferences window.
You can change them anytime in Preferences.
3. Choose Ignored Apps
Password managers, key tools, or temporary windows are good candidates. Content copied from ignored apps will not be saved to history.
4. Start Using
After copying content, press Alt+C to open the clipboard window. Search by keyword, or browse by text, image, files, favorites, or custom groups.
Next Steps
- Read Clipboard History for capture, search, and reuse.
- Read Privacy And Safety to configure sensitive content handling.
- Read Backup And Restore to plan data migration.
