#Does EcoPaste upload clipboard content to the cloud?

No. EcoPaste is local-first. Clipboard history, settings, and resource cache stay on your device.

#Which systems are supported?

EcoPaste is built for macOS and Windows. Shortcuts, permissions, and tray or menu bar behavior differ slightly by platform.

#Will passwords or keys be saved?

EcoPaste provides two layers of protection:

• Add password managers and key tools to ignored apps.
• Turn off “save sensitive content” or keep “redacted display” enabled.

For safety, avoid copying long-lived keys, production credentials, or unencrypted private data when possible.

#How do I paste plain text only?

Use the “Paste as Plain Text” action on a record. You can also enable “Paste as Plain Text by Default” in Preferences.

#Are favorites and pinned items cleaned automatically?

No. Retention and maximum item cleanup only affect regular records. Favorites and pinned items stay until you delete them manually.

#Why can search find text from notes?

EcoPaste indexes record content, notes, and some metadata together. You can add project names, ticket IDs, or context labels to notes and find those records later by searching the note text.

#Will images and files make the database huge?

Images, files, and other resources are cached separately. The history database keeps the index and references it needs. You can control storage with retention rules, maximum item count, and resource cache cleanup.

#Can backups be unencrypted?

Yes, but it is not recommended. Plain backups are not password-protected and can be read by anyone who has the file. Encrypted backups are better for daily migration and history storage.
